Iowa’s 2020 Trauma and Emergency Preparedness Conference

The Iowa Department of Public Health Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services and the American College of Surgeon’s – Committee on Trauma are excited to announce Iowa’s 2020 Trauma Conference occurring August 24th and 25th of this year. Iowa’s 2020 Trauma Conference will consist of a post-conference training day (August 25th) with opportunities for professional development and hands on skills training. The Trauma Conference day (August 24th) focuses on clinical aspects of trauma care and emergency preparedness for healthcare and public health. The conference day is organized into five training tracks with the following focus areas: EMS, nursing, physicians, hospital preparedness, and public health preparedness. Participants may engage in any of the trainings provided in the various tracks.

Iowa’s 2020 Trauma Conference Mission and Scope:

Conference Mission: Provide opportunities for collaboration and education of multidisciplinary partners to ensure the optimal care of trauma patients resulting from isolated and mass casualty incidents.

Conference Scope:

  • Provide trauma education to enhance the knowledge of the trauma system’s workforce.
  • Develop strength within each system discipline and increase collaboration between system partners for coordinated response to trauma inducing incidents.
  • Increase knowledge within the emergency preparedness community to support coordination of emergency response to mass casualty incidents.

Intended Audience

The intended audience for the conference includes physicians, advanced care practitioners, nurses, emergency medical services personnel, and public health and hospital emergency preparedness professionals.
